Terms of Service

Career Ember lets you browse job postings from third-party Applicant Tracking Systems (“ATSes”), save the ones that interest you, upload a resume, and use a Chrome extension to autofill those ATS application forms with your profile data. The extension never submits applications on your behalf — you do that yourself, after reviewing the autofilled answers.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials (the email address used for sign-in) secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to use the Service only for your own job search — not on behalf of someone else.

Most of Career Ember is free. The Career Ember Autofill Chrome extension requires a paid subscription, currently $20 per month, billed through Stripe. You can cancel any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period; we don't pro-rate refunds for partial periods.

We may change subscription pricing in the future. We'll give you reasonable notice before any price change takes effect for you.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to apply to jobs on someone else's behalf without their consent.
• Misrepresent yourself in any application — for example, by providing answers you know to be false.
• Use the Service in a way that violates an ATS provider's terms of service or any applicable law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

You retain ownership of everything you upload or input (your resume, profile, saved applications). By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process this content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, sending your resume text to our AI provider to extract structured profile fields, or using your saved applications to improve future autofill accuracy.

You are responsible for what you submit.Career Ember's autofill is a convenience: it fills form fields with data you provided. You must review every autofilled answer before clicking the Submit button on the ATS page. Career Ember is not liable for inaccurate or inappropriate content in your submissions.

The Service uses third-party AI (Anthropic's Claude) to draft cover-letter-style answers and suggest fills for unmatched fields. These drafts are generated from your profile and past answers. AI output can be wrong, generic, or otherwise unsuitable. You are solely responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated text before submitting it to an employer.

Career Ember, the Career Ember logo, the Career Ember Autofill extension, and the website are owned by us and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial job searching. We reserve all other rights.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that autofilled answers will be accepted by any employer. We do not guarantee any particular outcome from using the Service — including, but not limited to, receiving a job interview or offer.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Career Ember and its affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars.

You agree to indemnify and hold Career Ember harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. Sections 5, 8, 9, 10) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will post the new Terms with an updated effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
